The Embassy successfully concludded two out of four Natya Vedika series of lec-dems, dedicated to introduce Indian classical dance forms.

 

On 6th November, the first session of the lec-dem was dedicated to Kathak. Israeli exponent of Kathak, Apsara Meera along with his artist husband Amit Sani (plays Pakhawaj), introduced the basics of Kathak. She explained significance and meaning of each Mudras (gestures made with the hand or fingers), Bhav Bhangima (Face expressions for different emotions), costumes, ornamnts, different contexts of the dance etc.

 

The second session of Natya Vedika on 13th November was dedicated to Bharatnatyam. Israeli exponent of Bharatnatyam, Miho Kataoka performed along with her fellow Israeli dancers and explained about the significance and meaning of dance gestures.

 

The audience fully enchanted by the performances.

 

The next two lecdems are on 20 and 27 November dedicated to Kathak and Kuchipudi respectively.
