The Embassy of India and India Tourism Office Frankfurt organised a tourism seminar on 11 February in Dan Panorama Hotel, Tel Aviv. Despite the bad weather, a number of people from Israeli and Indian tourism industries participated in the seminar.

 

DCM Dr. Anju Kumar started the seminar with opening remarks of Ambassador. She briefed about the tourism promotional activities which Embassy undertook last year and projected leisure and adventure tourism as focus areas of the Embassy's activities for this year.

 

A series of presentations were made by Lior Kishlev, Ram Kumar Vijayan, Ofer and Galit Desheh, Roee Sheltiel and Dani Abrahami on different subjects.

 

Lior, himself an ornithologist presented potential of nature tourism in India. He focused on nature reserve parks in India and wildlife and nature attraction they offer. RamKumar, Assistant director of GOITO, Frankfurt talked about the wellness and luxury tourism potential of India and briefly introduced salient features of Travel Visa on Arrival (TVOA) scheme of Government of India. Ofer and Galit Desheh, winner of the Embassy's Brand Family Contest that was organised last year, talked about experiences of their family while traveling in India and highlighted tourism potential of India as a family destination.

 

Roee Sheltiel, an enthusiast surfer, threw light on huge potential of surf tourism in India and projected possible ramifications of growing surf tourism on other tourism sectors. Dani Abrahami, founder of Hodu.co.il portal entertained people with his humorous presentation focusing on Humus trail and cultural tourism in India.

 

Mr. Eldos Punnoose, Second Secretary in the Embassy spoke about Jewish heritage tourism in India and introduced Back to Roots itinerary, an Embassy of India initiative to promote Indian Jewish heritage sites among Israelis.

 

Mr. Rajesh Parihar, Second Secretary and in charge of culture-tourism affairs of the Embassy moderated the seminar. The seminar was followed by a cocktail reception.
